The Republic of Congo’s mining industry is dominated by Oil and Gas, along with various of untapped mineral reserves, including Iron ore, Diamonds, potash, Phosphates, Copper, Lead, Zinc, and Gold, which makes it a significant player in the African crude oil market, ranking seventh among producers. In spite of no major mining activities, the Republic of Congo has attracted international companies due to its vast undeveloped mineral resources. Thus, the government has taken significant steps to refresh the mining sector, introducing a new mining code in 2005 and establishing special economic areas to boost industry growth.
